BLACK & GREY — PRIVATE TATTOO STUDIO by MAX TATTOO

I didn’t enter the tattoo world because it was fashionable.

When I started, tattooing was very different from today. There were few studios, few artists and far less information. There weren’t tutorials for everything, equipment didn’t come with answers in the box, and mistakes forced you to learn. You built the craft over time: with your hands, your eyes and thousands of working hours.

That is how MAX TATTOO was built too. Not overnight. Not through a marketing campaign. But tattoo by tattoo, client by client, year after year.

I have been through almost every stage of this craft. I have watched machines, pigments, techniques, styles and, above all, people change. I have seen tattooing go from something viewed with suspicion to a vast industry where almost anyone can now buy a machine and call themselves a tattoo artist.

I stayed.

And after all these years, I have realised that I don’t want to do every kind of tattoo for everyone. I want to do what represents me.

This is where BLACK & GREY — PRIVATE TATTOO STUDIO by MAX TATTOO begins.

A studio built around my chosen style: Black & Grey. Shadows, light, contrast, portraits, realism and compositions made for the person who will wear them.

To me, a good tattoo is more than an image copied onto skin. The body has volume, proportion and movement. A project must be designed for where it will live, and look good not only in a photo taken just after the session, but also when it becomes part of you.

That is why I prefer to talk before I start. I want to know what you want to express, where the tattoo will be and why you chose that image.

Sometimes I change the idea. Other times I recommend a different size or placement, or even say a project should not be done as proposed. Not because I want to complicate things, but because experience has taught me when something will work and when it won’t.

I don’t claim perfection.

After so many years of tattooing, I still look at a piece and find something I could have done better. Perhaps that is exactly what has kept me in this craft for so long.

I’m not interested in saying I’m “the best tattoo artist”. The internet is already full of the best. I prefer my work to speak for me.

Behind them are years of work, experiments, mistakes, change, difficult clients, long nights and enough tattoos to understand that experience doesn’t mean never making mistakes again. It means seeing things you once didn’t even know to look for.

BLACK & GREY is the next chapter.

My studio isn’t starting today. It is evolving.

MAX TATTOO has a history behind it. BLACK & GREY is what I choose to build next from all the experience I have gained.

A more personal space. Quieter. More attentive to the project and the person in front of me.

Not a tattoo factory. Not ten clients waiting at the door. I prefer one good project and the time needed to do it properly.

Technology is also beginning to play an increasingly important role in how I work. I believe tattooing’s future is not a choice between artist and technology. It is using technology to help the artist do better what no machine can decide for them: what deserves to be created.

Because ultimately, Black & Grey means exactly that: building light from shadows.
